Hello everyone it's
Jonesy,

After months of hype, Lil Bump Land has updated to 26.3, featuring the new Dappled Forest and much loved Cushions, but more importantly the server has just received it's largest custom data pack ever.

Years ago when I originally conceived of the Rupee economy concept, it never really saw the light of day and was ultimately scrapped. However, the ideas never stopped flowing and now I can thankfully say it's becoming a reality again with the help of @gecko.myatproto.social.

Back in 2022, the aim for this project was to create a simple monetary system because I thought it would be fun for players to be able to buy/sell resources to each other while offline, thus the first edition of Rupees and Trading Tables came into being.

In this second iteration, basic player trading is still a primary feature, but I've since realized the opportunities for using the currency to expand past vanilla game play, all while building upon the lore of Lil Bump Land. In this drop, alongside the monetary related items, there will also be some new custom goods and services to pay for with your hard earned Rupees.

The data pack has grown a lot in scope, but we've made sure it's also been refined, better balanced, and made more fun and accessible for all players when compared to it's older counterpart. Let's get right into it!

NEW FEATURES

#1 RUPEE

  • A new ore that acts exclusively as a currency

  • Usable at Trading Tables to buy/sell items with other players indirectly

  • Usable at Walter's Shops (server ran Trading Tables) to purchase unique items

  • Usable at Alfred's Teleportation Stations to pay for fast travel

  • All structures now generate Rupees as loot (except in The End)

  • All ore blocks have a 6% chance to drop 1 Rupee when mined along with their typical drops

    • Fortune I increases it to a 6.6% chance

    • Fortune II increases it to a 6.9% chance

    • Fortune III increases it to a 7.1% chance

  • Rupees also have their own Ore Block

  • Mob Spawners drop 0-8 Rupees when broken

  • Suspicious Gravel/Sand has a chance to drop Rupees when brushed

  • Tamed Cats have a chance to bring 1 Rupee to players as a gift

  • Being connected to the server earns players 10 Rupee per 10 minutes (disabled if player is AFK)

#2 BALANCE

  • Players' Balances are represented by the purple number next to their name in the server menu

  • It will only display the balances of players currently online

  • When a player picks up a Rupee it will instantly go into their Balance instead of their inventory (despite this a player must have at least one empty inventory slot to pick a Rupee up)

#3 RUPEE ORE

  • A new ore block that replaces Emerald Ore's generation

  • It generates denser in mountain biomes with the best Y coordinate to mine for them being 232

  • Without the Fortune enchantment they drop 1-15 Rupees

    • Fortune I increases it to 5-20

    • Fortune II increases it to a 10-30

    • Fortune III increases it to a 10-40

  • Players can pick up the block with Silk Touch

  • Rupee Ore can be smelted/blasted to produce 1 Rupee

#4 EMPTY/SIGNED CHECK

  • The Empty Check is a new utility item that allows players to transfer Rupees from their Balance to another player's Balance

  • Becomes the Signed Check once configured

  • To set the amount of Rupees the player wishes to deposit into an Empty Check, they must interact with it and use the slider in the UI

  • After confirming the amount and signing, the player's Rupees are immediately withdrawn from their Balance and deposited into the newly named "Signed Check"

  • A Signed Check can hold up to 500 Rupees

  • Anyone can instantly redeem a Signed Check, including the original signer simply by interacting with it

  • 4 Empty Checks can be crafted with 1 paper, 1 ink sac, and 1 feather

  • No need for a crafting table, it can be made in the inventory grid

#5 TRADING TABLE

  • A new functional block with a custom UI which can be used to sell things to other players for Rupees or buy things from other players with Rupees

  • Click the green book icon in the UI to swap between Sell and Buy mode

    • In Sell Mode the owner of the Trading Table can earn Rupees by having other players purchase items from them.
Owners must fill up the inventory of the Trading Table with merchandise to sell.
Afterwards, they must open the UI and click the green book icon to set the price and amount being sold at once.
If the Trading Table's inventory runs out of merchandise, it will no longer be able to make trades until it's restocked

    • In Buy Mode the owner can pay other players for depositing things they are willing to pay Rupees for.
Say an owner is in need of more Cacti, they would need to place a single Cactus in the inventory of the Trading Table to display that's that they are willing to buy from other players
Afterwards, the owner must open the UI and click the green book icon to set the amount of rupees they are willing to pay other players for the item they want.
If the Trading Table's inventory becomes full it will no longer make trades, so owners must empty it out.
Also, if the owner is out of Rupees and cannot afford to pay other players, said players will not even be able to deposit their items into the Trading Table.

  • Hold Sneak or Sprint to view owner of Trading Table

  • Hold Sneak + Interact to configure and open inventory

  • Right Click to buy

  • Left Click for trade preview

  • Punch 3 times in a quick succession to break

  • There's a 15% chance for Trading Tables to generate as loot in Abandoned Camp's secret Copper Chests

  • Available for purchase with Rupees at a Walter Shop

  • It sounds complicated, but I promise once you get your hands on it, you will quickly understand!

#6 CURSE OF DETERIORATION

  • A new curse that makes it so items cannot receive the Mending enchantment

  • If a player adds an enchantment that isn't compatible with Mending to their item, it will automatically be cursed with Deterioration, but the curse can be lost if a Grindstone is used.

    • However, you cannot remove the curse from unique items that come with inherent bonus enchantments (such as the Gas Mask's baked in Ender Gaze enchantment) that make them incompatible with Mending.

  • Unable to be obtained as a book

#7 Airborne Enchantment

  • A new enchantment exclusively for the Wind Boots

  • Allows players to double jump

  • If both jumps are timed right, a player could jump to a maximum height of 3.5 blocks (7.5 with Jump Boost II)

    • This has already been in vanilla for a very long time with the Carved Pumpkin, but now it is being specified as an enchantment that way it can potentially be added to more custom helmets in the future

  • Unable to be obtained as a book

  • A new enchantment for Crossbows, Hoes, Lassos, Maces, Spears, and Tridents

  • On each successful attack a player lands, half a hunger and saturation is restored

  • Unable to be crafted, books only available for purchase with Rupees at a Walter Shop

#24 WALTER'S SHOPS

A new Trading Table center ran by Walter is being built in The End. It's still under construction and looks rather poor currently, but come by and buy and sell things for Rupees!

"Walter" is really just a front for server admin to control the supply and demand of certain custom items that get added to Lil Bump Land through data packs.
Rupees spent at a Trading Table owned by Walter are deleted from the economy and Rupees earned from Walter are freshly generated.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

  • Emeralds no longer generate as loot in End Cities

  • Deepslate Emerald Ore blocks still can generate, however there are no Deepslate Rupee Ore block variant

  • All gravity duplication setups have been destroyed due to sand and gravel now being purchasable with Rupees

  • Mending is now only obtainable via purchase at a Walter Shop or Trail Chambers.Villagers will no longer sell Mending and those who once did will be locked in a bedrock prison.

LONG TERM GOALS

The Rupee Revival on it's own has been such a tremendous effort and is already filled with so much potential for fun new interactions on our server, but this content drop was just a stepping stone, laying down the infrastructure for what's next.

There are big plans already in the works to expand the economy with more ways to earn and spend Rupees, but I also want to wait some time to see whether our current economic sinks properly counter inflation or if things need to be adjusted.

In the future though, one of the next big concepts in mind is a combat overhaul, focusing mainly on Zombie-types and End mobs. It would range from reworking their health, spawns, loot, to even giving them new mechanics.

This data pack would most certainly be designed with the Rupee economy in mind. New items and armor pieces would most certainly be added. But shittt that's far from now, let's be honest. Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

In the meantime, please enjoy THE RUPEE REVIVAL!
